Love Went Looking

Verse 1
Love is not a feeling we can summon on our own
Not a word we practice till it sounds like coming home
Love went looking for the lost before the lost looked back
Love took on the debt we owed and never asked it back Verse 2
While we still were sinners, while the old life held the throne
Love stepped into our grave and would not leave us there alone
Not because we earned it, not because the dark was light
Love is what He is, and what He is went into the night Chorus
God is love, and love has a name
Jesus, the mercy, the cross, and the flame
Not that we loved Him, but He loved us first
Gave us His Son when we still were the worst
This is love, not our trying, not our claim
God is love, and love has a name Verse 3
Love is patient with the slow and kind to the ashamed
Love does not keep a record of the ways we broke His name
Love rejoices in the truth and will not let the lie remain
Love laid down His life for friends, and called His enemies the same Bridge
If God is love, then love cannot fail
If love was crucified, then mercy will prevail
We love because He loved us, we live because He lives
The life we count as ours is the life that His love gives Chorus
God is love, and love has a name
Jesus, the mercy, the cross, and the flame
Not that we loved Him, but He loved us first
Gave us His Son when we still were the worst
This is love, not our trying, not our claim
God is love, and love has a name Outro
Dead to sin, alive to God
Because love would not leave us in the grave
He is love
He is love
